Pa,
Could it be that reporter mistook NDAM for NADD?

Sanusi,

Well said. I also suspect that this statement is coming from Waa Juwara. His boy Bruce Asomata, the Nigerian journalist, is back at the Daily Observer once gain. Perhaps, Waa is using him to “BLACKMAIL” NADD.

If this story turns out to be false, the reputation of the AFP, which I filed stories for in the past, on behalf of the late Deyda Hydara, would be undermined. This appears to be another form of propaganda coming from the APRC. Waa Juwara is using the Daily Observer reporter to pursue his own personal agenda, which is to destroy NADD.

In my own view, this could be another form of engaging Halifa Sallah to divert his attention on current issues. The so called NADD statement is not only weak, but questionable. This was a bad journalistic work in my own view. There is no way that NADD can issue such a press release without convening a press conference. There is more to this story.

I think the AFP should recruit journalists with credibility, and not checkbook reporters, who are vulnerable to official manipulation. This piece looks like a PR statement. I think the reporter should have approached Halifa, OJ, Sam, or even Waa before coming up with such an important story. No credible source was quoted in that press release. What motivated the press release? Why didn’t the local media published the press release?

In as much as Waa Juwara is my friend, I think he should desist from deceptive politics. He should stop using a poor Nigerian journalist for his personal interest. If he opts to resign from NADD that is fine, but should not pretend as if the statement is coming from the NADD bureau. Just a thought.
