Thank you bro Haruna. I am in fact new to ellen and has come to be of company to you all. I guess Suntou has relaxed his angst at my beloved paper and i will take this opportunity by urging him to find time to read Foroyaa. He will benefit a lot from it. The online media out of the Gambia are doing a great job by rolling out all those stories that journalists on the ground would never be able to verify in order to avoid time wasting and distracting court appearances. If he reads Foroyaa, he will notice that the UDP members at the National Assembly are regularly reported on as Seedia Jatta is if not more. And he can consult furtherand he will confirm that when Lawyer Darboe and Yaya Jallow were arrested, Halifa Sallah was if not the only opposition leader in constant touch with them to contribute to their release. A lot more happened before and during the coming together of the opposition parties that led to the establishment of NADD. Halifa Sallah was in Jarra in the buildup to the first By-election that helped Kemenseng Jammeh come out of self imposed political sanction. Sallah infact contributed in the transportation of voters from the KMC to Jarra. So, you see Suntou, there is nothing here about political opportunism. Let us chart a new way of debating our national affairs as our contribution in liberating our country. I was a bit scared of contributing in this online forums after following the types of debates that sometimes goes on here. But for us Gambians abroad to earn the respect of our compatriots at home and assume that place in out national affairs as I once read being editorialised at the Senegambianews.com, we have to be more progressive. For example, there is all this talk for unity among the opposition parties to challenge the APRC in the 2011 elections. How can we contribute in making that a reality that will surpass the NADD experiment? The Daily news has taken it upon itself to engage the opposition parties in a debate but is that trend what we really need at this moment of our history? Accusations and counter accusations. We can also open a debate on how to realise opposition unity so as to get rid of the APRC mess in our country. Also, brother Haruna has proposed an Opposition Parties Legal Defence Fund, what is your take on that and how could that good idea be worked on to sharpen it much further to make it a reality. What do you think? Modou Nyang --- On Sat, 31/10/09, Haruna Darbo <[log in to unmask]> wrote:
