The Alkalo of Jalambang village, Njobo Bah, who is said to be in his 90s, is reported to have been arrested at the Brikama Area Council on Wednesday, 6 January 2009, taken to Court and later remanded in custody at the Mile Two Central Prison as confirmed by family members.

The family members that spoke to this reporter said the Jalambang Alkalo was called on Tuesday 5 January to report to the Brikama Area Council and from where he was detained and later arraigned in Court.

According to them, the family members of the Alkalo did not have the opportunity to be present in court. However, the wife said that she has had the opportunity to visit him at the Remand Wing of the Central Prison at Mile 2. The wife said she is not aware of the charges proffered against him or any bail condition. She told this reporter that all she knew is that there has been a pending land dispute between the villages of Jambur and Jalambang, which involves a land said to be allegedly allocated to the President and that the Alkalo will appear in court today, Monday, 11January when they will know why he is arrested and charged.
