Kukeh this is too funny. Now Gambian muslims have bomb detonation devices right in the palm of their hands. If you have friends and family in Basse, please inform them that the Qcell that is being peddled as a muslim phone emits harmful radio waves that have been known to cause mental retardation and brain cancer.
Thanx for sharing Kukeh. I think it is important we inform our people of the dangers of snake oil salesmen and women.
Haruna.

*QCell, the country’s newest GSM Operator, on Friday launched its’ latest product called the Muslim Phone in Basse, at a ceremony held at the Basse Central Mosque in Upper River Region.*

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Alhaji Omar Khan, the governor of Upper River Region (URR), said that the availability of the Muslim Phones in Basse by QCell is a very relevant development for the people, especially the Muslims. He pointed out that the people of URR are very appreciative and will unite to support the initiative. He thanked QCell for its support to Islam. The governor also thanked Muhammed Jah, the proprietor of QCell Company for the development.

Speaking earlier, Lamin Yafa, the commercial manager of QCell, said his company has deemed it necessary to initially launch this initiative in Banjul and Basse, as they believe that Basse is another important area in the country. According to him, the initiative is the first of its kind in Africa. He disclosed that QCell is even subsidising the Phone as it is supposed to cost D1500 instead of D750. Explaining the importance of the phone, Yafa said it has the capability to remind one of prayer times by calling “AZAAN”. For his part, Omar Sampo Ceesay, the chairman of Basse Area Council, stated that QCell is a Gambian-owned GSM company.

He therefore expressed delight and appreciation to Q-Cell for bringing the phone closer to them. The Chief of Fulladu East, Hammeh Minteh Kurubally, told the gathering that QCell met other GSM companies already operating in the country, but has done something that is exceptional. He attributed this development to the support of The Gambia government. He finally urged the people of Basse to buy QCell Phones.
