Please take a look at what development and self-government means. In Mali you don't have to move to Bamako to live a full life, be employed, or have the comforts of life. In this edition: 1. ATT lays the foundation stones for the new and futuristic UEMOA Parliament headquarters. UEMOA is the twin org. of ECOWAS with a French appreciation. The structure includes a guest hotel on site. The project will be coordinated by a Malian architecture firm. 2. A speech by Mali's first President H.E. Modibo Keita marking the opening of the first state tomato paste factory SUCOMA. A showcase for Mali's independence with assistance from her socialist partners Bulgaria and Yugoslavia. The tomatoes are grown on the factory farm, processed and packaged in the state factory, and consumed in Mali. Workers had to be trained in Bulgaria and Yugoslavia to begin the project. Electricity was generated from fossil fuel thermal energy. The factory has been revived in the 1970s and continues to produce tomato paste to this day. 3. The 10th edition of The Bamako Forum's conclusions on Food Security and climate change in Africa. They weave security with good governance. They have scheduled 25 years for the achievement of the stated goals. Mali's Agricultural development efforts are trained toward this final goal of food security and social development. This comes after 5 days of focused deliberations on hunger, food security, and climate change. Prime Minister and Hon. Modibo Sidibe is the patron of The Bamako Forum. Vait and Zee! 4. Electrification of Baguineda, Badiangara, Mopti, and Jenne, construction of roads networks, and the development of irrigated farms. The development of Selingue and Bani river basins. You can't help but be in awe of ATT. Quality leadership and sobriety. 5. Ivory coast pre-election violences spurred by Gbagbo's dissolution of the national unity government. A new government has not been composed now for 10 days. An idle people is fodder for wanton grafignette. That is natural law. Compaore has his work cut out for him. We stand beside him for Ivory Coast. 6. Zambia's consideration of a constitutional ammendment that requires all future presidential candidates to be holders of Bachelor's degrees. What idiocy??? I mean is there a university that teaches in a Zambian language??? What about a degree in dog-catching? What does a degree have to do with friggin leadership????? These people have their priorities all screwed up. Somebady help them. 7. Vegetable farm for the rural community of Zan Coulibaly inaugurated by Minister Ndiaye for employment with help from the Rotary Club of Bamako. Minister Ndiaye then proceeds to improve the employment opportunities for Mali's returning migrants in Kayes, in the area of fishing canoes. 8. The Balanzans of Segou hold this year's Municipal conference. This conference is attended by local officials, mayors, sherrifs, and other community development officials. The idea is information sharing and shared sacrifices. 9. Development of Animal husbandry and ranching in the Timboctou and Gao regions. 10.
