Dear Amadou Matarr Sallah,
For the records, Chongan was never a DIG of the Gambia Police Force. I can confirm that he was appointed AIG incharge of Operations after the amalgamation of the Gendermarie and the Police. He came to the Police as a Major. Chongan found me in the  Police when he came from the Gendermerie.
Brother Kejau can confirm this as he was in the Conduct and Discipline Unit of the Police Force.
Dodou Joof was the deputy to Pa Salla Jagne and until he was sent home with other senior police Officers by the AFPRC and by that time, Chongan was already in Mile ll.
Dodou Joof took over from Bakary Bojang, who was elected Head Chief of Kombo Central.
Boli Sarr now chief Security at the British Embassy was AIG for Administration. He was also sent home at the same time with Capi Joof. The late Jambai Sanneh a senior Officer was also sent home.Mr. Mahmood was assigned AIG Finance and he was also sent home and one Kuyateh a former Gendermarie took over. Pa Habibu Mbaye was assigned as AIG Crime, but he was still a Superintendant of Police.
Bakary Manjang a Senior Officer from Brikama was also sent home. Nay Sisay was deployed to the Immigration as Director.
Basically, all senior Police Officers were sent home, whilst Chongan sent to Mile ll.
So Mr. Amadou, I have checked my facts. I also wish to let you know that most of the middle level Police Officers and what we call rank and files were not happy with Chongan's redeployment because we were aware of his bullying nature of subordinates in the Gendermerie.
So, I believe Chongan should be honest enough to say he was not DIG, but AIG and I am not even aware who he was promoted to Colonel in the Gendermarie.

Thank you for your understanding.
