He has being threatening to kill her and kill himself for the past months. It´s her child is with the grand parents in the Gambia. Violence (both physical and psychological) towards women is something our society refuses to address. Male-chauvinistic pigs abound in our midst. Some men believe that a wife is a possession rather a partner. Some of these possessiveness and control-freakery is enhanced by some of our cultural and religious norms which many a time is misunderstood and misrepresented. We all know that many a time when our moms, sisters, daughters are abused by their spouses, we always encourage and force them to endure for this is what is expected of a good woman. I advise any woman who feels trapped in any relationship to do all she can to make sure people know about her situation and if possible to run away. According to the narrations so far, their is only one guilty party and all the evidence points to one direction. Only cowards, bullies, chauvitistic pigs will carry such despicable act. This is not the first time animousity between married Gambian couples in the UK have degenerated in to murder; there was a similar tragic outcome in the mid 1990s. My personal advice particularly to men who are in unhealthy and sour relationship is to seek a complete separation at first and then ultimately a divorce if need be. Sometimes a woman and a man would get in to a relationship and later one or both parties realise that there is a significant unbridgeable compatibility gap between them. Under such circumstances, it is best to go separate ways. It might even be most helpful to both parties if one party relocates to another Village, town or city where there would be no opportunity to interact with one another on a daily basis. Also, distance and time could sometimes heal misunderstandings. No one is obliged to be trapped in an unhealthy marriage or relationship, not even for the sake of the kids. It is even better for kids that parents separate than verbally or physically fighting each other on a daily or weekly basis. Violence in a relationship could easily lead to murder. Let us daily seek refuge from the evil in us and that from from others as well. The 38-year-old mum had agreed to talk to the man, thought to be her estranged husband, at the back of the McColl's newsagent's. Yesterday, witness Eddie Sutherland, 25, described the chilling scene at the shop in Glasgow city centre. He said: "I was in to buy juice for my kids on Tuesday and was aware of a tall black man coming in. "The next thing, I saw him and a black woman, who had been serving, talking and walking towards the back of the shop. "He then put his arms round her from behind. I thought it was a normal hug because they kept walking. "But then I heard him raise his voice and a dreadful scream and his arm started moving up and down. "He was stabbing her repeatedly. The screams were terrible, bone-chilling. I can still hear them now. "He then turned round slightly and plunged the knife into himself, high up on his stomach. UK NEWS SHOP WOMAN DIES IN MURDER-SUICIDE BID A jilted husband is believed to have burst into his estranged wife’s workplace and stabbed her Wednesday June 2,2010 By Rod Mills A JILTED husband is believed to have burst into his estranged wife’s workplace and stabbed her to death before trying to take his own life.Two firefighters tried to grapple with Sheikh Saine as he launched the frenzied attack on spouse Fatou in a busy city centre newsagent. But paramedics who raced to the branch of McColl’s in St Enoch Square, Glasgow, discovered Mrs Saine already dead. Shoppers and staff watched in horror as Saine plunged a knife into the 38-year-old shop manageress’s chest. Witnesses said he then stabbed himself in the stomach before being restrained and taken to hospital. Detectives were last night thought to be waiting to question him at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where his condition was described as “serious but stable”. Strathclyde Police, who have launched a murder inquiry, refused to confirm that the attacker and his victim were related. But it is understood they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. Firemen, who had been carrying out fire safety inspections nearby, rushed to the woman’s aid as the attack unfolded. They wrestled the man to the ground and disarmed him as he tried to stab himself in the apparent murder-suicide bid. The pair gave the dying woman first aid as emergency services rushed to the scene, but paramedics were unable to save her and she died at the scene. It is thought the couple split last year and their son is being cared for by grandparents in the family’s native West Africa. A source said: “The two fire officers managed to get the knife off him and then tried to give the woman first aid to try to save her, but she was too badly injured. “They had been on duty and in uniform at the time, they were carrying out fire safety inspections in the area.” Mrs Fatou is thought to have worked at McColl’s for some time, but it is not known if her husband had also worked for the chain.
