To be sure, LaTTo's exposure to military training in Turkey and a couple of other sober places outside of Gambia, did leave a modicum of sober impression on him. That is always yearning to come out. It is however set against enormous and overwhelming fear and customary charlatanry. LaTTo, like many others think Gambia owes them something for their "sacrifices". And when those remunerations come via Yahya, they are wont to supplant Yahya for Gambia. The problem he has is that there are actual limits to his youthful ambition and Yahya recognizes that the next step up from Chief of Defense staff is President. LaTTo has exhausted his promotions.
