Honourables Kassory Fofana, Aboubacar Sompare' and Mamadou Sylla have issued a declaration of support for Hon. Alpha Conde' for the second round of voting. These three honourables had themselves contested in the first round at the head of their parties and we recall that Hon. Aboubacar Sompare' was the President of La-Guinea's National Assembly during Lansana Conte's administration. And that upon the demise of President Conte', Sompare was widely acclaimed to lead the nation through the requisite transitional elections. That was before the intervention of Dadis and the CNDD.
These leaders who have declared their support for Alpha Conde' all have their base of support in Basse Guinee, which also happens to be the base of most of Hon. Sidya Toure's support. Hon. Sidya Toure shared that he was insensed by the declaration which appeared to coopt his support for Alpha Conde'. He denounces the wording of the declaration.
I am sympathetic to Hon. Sidya's consternation if indeed the trio's declaration appears to imply that Hon. Sidya Toure' and his UFR party also declared their support for Hon. Alpha Conde'. I would love to hear of that eventuality at the appropriate time but as Hon. Sidya Toure' asserts, it is extremely premature when the Supreme Court is considering a decision on the contenders of the second round of elections. I hope the declaration is immune to such coopting.
I happen to believe that Hon. Sidya Toure' and the UFR deserve a place in the second round for the most considerate resolution of the first round and for the best governance atmosphere for the winner of the second round. So unless Hon. Sidya Toure' and the UFR voluntarily, and for the benefit of La-Guinea's ethnic harmony, withdraw their challenge of the results of the first round of voting, it is premature and unconscionable for him to endorse any of Alpha Conde' or Cellou Dalein Diallo in the second round. I do however encourage both Hons. Diallo and Conde' to meet with Hon. Sidya and positively express their desire for the support of Hon. Sidya's electoral base. That could be the achilles heel in the imbroglio. Haruna. For The GDP.
Les tractations ont commencé en Guinée entre les candidats recalés du premier tour de la présidentielle et les deux qualifiés du second : Cellou Dalein Diallo et Alpha Condé. Les coups bas ne sont pas exclus de cette nouvelle bataille politique qui commence, et c’est Sydia Touré, arrivé troisième du premier tour, qui fait l’objet de toutes les attentions.
La région de Basse-Guinée sera bel et bien la clé du second tour de la présidentielle. Les grandes manœuvres entre candidats ont commencé pour récupérer l’électorat de cette région. Le week-end dernier plusieurs candidats battus au premier tour, comme Kassory Fofana, Aboubacar Somapré et Mamadou Sylla ont annoncé qu’ils soutenaient Alpha Condé pour le second tour. Mais dans leur déclaration, ils ont associé l’UFR (Union des forces républicaines) de Sidya Touré, arrivé troisième au premier tour avec 15% des voix. Or l’UFR n’est pas partie prenante de cette sorte de coalition et son président Sydia Touré dénonce une manipulation :
« Nous avons démenti avec véhémence cette déclaration qui rélève purement et simplement de la manipulation. Nous n’avons pas été consultés. Donc nous avons été extrêmement surpris de voir notre nom dans ce communiqué, et nous l’avons démenti catégoriquement. »
Sydia Touré est bien implanté politiquement en Basse-Guinée, et ses 15% du premier tour lui assurent une position de faiseur de roi, dans l’optique du second : « Ce n’est pas la position que j’aurais souhaité. Cela me met en face d’un problème que j’ai toujours dénoncé en Guinée : le problème communautaire. Mais qu’à cela ne tienne, nous soumettrons aux partis en face, le programme que nous avons voulu défendre. »
Sidya Touré ne se prononcera pas sur la question de son ralliement avant que la Cour suprême n’ait examiné le contentieux électoral. En attendant, il reçoit sans exception tous les émissaires qui se présentent à son domicile, question dit-il de politesse africaine.
