Q: Can you please tell us what is the significance of hearing an inner sound in the ear in the silence?
A: Well, that is exactly what we have been talking about. The significance of it is that God is in the center of our being and in one way or another God is voicing Itself to us, and we are interpreting it as sound or as light. All people don't hear sound, some see light. Many do not see light; they merely have a feeling of the presence. And so in whatever way it translates itself to us it is actually an evidence of Emanuel or God with us. So whether we hear something or see something or feel something, that something is an effect. The effect is the effect of the invisible presence that we call God.
You know you must always remember this: the whole world was praying and fighting for supply during the years of the 1930 to 1940 Depression. And you would have imagined that there was less supply on earth than there had ever been before, people were so desperate for it. And yet all of that time there was just as much vegetables in the ground, just as much fruit, just as many animals, just as many fish in the sea, just as many birds in the air. And yet people were crowding churches to pray for supply. Oh, that's foolishness, foolishness. Stop this praying for something, stop this fighting for something, and sit back in quietness and confidence and let the infinite abundance of God, which
already fills the earth, flow into you and through you and out from you.
There was never a lack, even during those ten years of Depression. The only lack there was that some people couldn't get that which existed. And that wasn't because of God, that wasn't because of a lack on earth. That was because of man's mismanagement of his personal and national affairs. It had nothing to do with God. God's abundance was the same during those years. Don't ever forget that. Just as many fish in lakes, rivers and oceans, just as many birds in the air, just as many cattle on a thousand hills, just as much oil in the ground, just as many diamonds in the ground, just as many potatoes, wheat, corn. Everything was there, and people praying for supply.
