Oley Njie-Mbye, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Gambia Women's
Finance Association (GAWFA) has commended the Gambian leader, His Excellency
Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh for empowering Gambian women since
the advancement of the July 22 Revolution. She made this remarks recently
during an interview with this reporter.

She said the APRC government has registered significant achievements by
putting in place legislative policies and strategies that support the
empowerment of women and the girl child in an environment of equity, fair
play and justice. Madam Njie-Mbye noted that some women have occupied key
decision-making positions under the Jammeh administration and cited the free
education of the girl child, which has contributed immensely to the
reduction of illiteracy amongst women.

She opined that the recent launch of the Gambia Women's Federation will
contribute significantly to the improvement of the socio-economic status of
Gambian women, as well as strengthen collaboration and partnership amongst
women organisations. The GAWFA CEO finally called on Gambian women to foster
unity and cooperation in the interest of national development and strengthen
their unflinching support for President Jammeh and the APRC.
