Indeed Badou. I think it is all of the above and some more. However, the good news is humans will always reap what they sow. So long as Jammeh does not become immortal on us (happily, he cannot), all this will end.

Baba,
I have no doubt about Jammeh's desire to be a king. With all indications , Jammeh has shown that to Gambians either by actions or spoken words long time ago. The process of becoming a king is just akin to the way be mobilized certain elders , notably Pa Kalipha Sano of Brufut, Eric Tunde and others ,to asked him to contest for the 1996 election.

What I cannot understand is the comment from NAM of Banjul .I really found it baffling , ignorant and arrogant. What I also found disturbing since PPP regime is, place like Banjul, the Kombs and other peripheral areas close to the helm of the power never go against the president. Surely, these are the areas considered to be well informed and educated about the brutal nature of the government, yet they pledge their unflinching support to him.

1. Is it that they do not care about the progress and development of the country ?
2 Are they there for themselves , not working on to prepare a fertile and prosperous ground for the future of their children?
3. Is it out of ignorance or no love for the future of their own children ( those advocating for Jammeh to be King)

Badou,

Bro Fankung,

If Fropessor Jammeh is a smart man who does not endorse this idea, what's stopping him from saying so? I'm sure all he needs to do is say the word. As things stand, one cannot but conclude that he either instigated the whole kingship thing, or is giving it his tacit blessing and encouragement. If he doesn't want to be king, let him say he doesn't want to be king and there would be instant silence on the Campaign Front. Is it any surprise that this so-called "debate" in the national assembly is clearly divided between APRC (Yeah) and Opposition (Nay)? Knowing our good Fropessor's sweet tooth for power, I wouldn't be surprised finding him thoughtfully holding his chin, a distant look in his eyes, quietly musing day and night on just how grand he would look wearing a golden crown. Well, one thing is for sure: He would certainly be promoted from his curent category of "is he insane?" to the elevated category of "yes, definitely insane." Poor old lonely Bokassa might just have a mate soon enough!
