In another development, Rt. Hon. Marina Geli, the minister of Health of
Catalonia has sent a letter of condolence to President Jammeh following the
sudden demise of Dr Abubacarr Gaye, former minister of Health and Social
Welfare.

The message reads:
I am writing to express my sadness on hearing of the premature death of Mr.
Abubakarr Gaye. I had the pleasure of knowing him for a brief period while
we were working on various healthcare initiatives to establish long term
collaboration between The Gambia and Catalonia.

Dr. Gaye had clear ideas of the needs of his country and worked with insight
and determination to improve the health of the Gambia population. It was an
honour for us to work with him, and he was a great ambassador for the
Gambian community in Catalonia, especially in Salt, Girona, bonding the two
communities in a common project.

While his untimely death is a blow, the foundations of his work here have
already been laid and his work will continue. I would also like to extend my
deepest sympathy to his wife and family for whom this loss will be most
deeply felt.

RT Hon Marina Geli
Minister of Health
Catalonia
