Hon. Abdoulie Bojang, the speaker of the National Assembly and Jacque Diouf, the director general of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation has congratulated the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh on the New Year.

The messages read:
On the festive and holy occasion of Christmas and the ensuing New Year 2011, it gives me great pleasure as Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly to convey our prayers and best wishes for and on behalf of both sides of Parliament. May the Year 2011 be yet another year of peace and prosperity for The Gambia and the world at large. May we yet again witness numerous development programmes under Your Excellency's dynamic and visionary leadership.

We pray that Allah the Almighty grant you long life and good health to continue leading our beloved nation onto higher heights. Please accept the assurances of my highest esteem.
