Fankung,

I knew you will put a spin on these questions instead of openly fairly debating the issue. This was not meant to be a red meat for you and your folks so don't jump all over the place with jubilation...

On a serious note, you should never under estimate the discontent of the silence majority in the Gambia. In comparison to Egypt, we have not heard about unrest, or public outcry in Egypt for the past several years. It wasn't because the people were happy with the leadership, but because the dictator has managed to silence all opponents..

This is why he is being humiliated today and will go down in history as one of the worst to be driven out of power.

Now back to Gambia under your dear leader... how many people do think have been fired, imprisoned, humialiated? How many people directly or indirectly have been branded enemies of this regime especially in the security forces?

Do you think Jesus (EX IGP), LangTombong, Marena's family and countless others will ever forgive your leader? What about the rest of the junta????

Fankung, if you and your leader are smart and think straight you should consider the discontent of the citizenry. It is not being a coward or given up to citizen demands but rather being responsive to the needs of your citizens...

You are making a grave mistake by blindly branding everybody as happy with your leader... Time will tell!!!!

I bet  you, if you conduct a secret survey in the gambia today, you will find many people at a boiling point!!!!

Advice your leader to open his eyes and learn from history!!! right now power corrupts absolute power corrupts!!! you can go to bed with that....

and get off of the false pretense and use fairness in your head!!!

Demba, great questions. Here is my honest and sincere answers...

If this were to happen in Gambia today, would our opposition parties be willing to risk what ordinary citizens are risking to lead them and put pressure on the government to leave?
They are more interested in filling their pockets. So they will never unite. THE MOST IMPORTANT ANSWER IS THAT WE WILL NEVER HAVE AN UPRISING NO A COUP BECAUSE WE HAVE A GREAT LEADER...

Are they organize and ready to take over power if the government were to go down today?
They are bunch of opportunists - THE MOST IMPORTANT ANSWER IS THAT WE WILL NEVER HAVE AN UPRISING NO A COUP BECAUSE WE HAVE A GREAT LEADER...

Do they have the structures and the confidence of the people to lead them in times of crisis?

no.... THE MOST IMPORTANT ANSWER IS THAT WE WILL NEVER HAVE AN UPRISING NO A COUP BECAUSE WE HAVE A GREAT LEADER...

Does this validate critics points that the Gambian opposition is dead or at least near death???

Absolutely, how long will it take for the opposition to know this. Most of their online strongmen are now sleeping. They are hiding because they cannot believe that there will be no opposition. Others are fighting a lost war... - UDP. They will never learn. That party was dead since 1996. I will buy you, Haruna, Suntu, and Yanks a latte' if UDP pulls 10% this elections.... I will be here posting the results by the minute

What say you????

Subject: Need for a Strong, Able and Ready Opposition to Lead the People!!!!
To: gambia-l-request <[log in to unmask]>

Events unfolding in Egypt has underscored the need for a strong, able and willing opposition to stand with the people when citizens stand to take over their country. For almost 10 days now citizens of Egypt has brought the government to a halt and yet there is no emerging leaders in the opposition to lead the people.

The opposition in Egypt has been rendered so harmless that they don't appear to have the backbone to join the people.

This is why it is all the more crucial to have an opposition, able and ready to lead!!!

Now the million dollar question??????
