Oh brother.

Joe Joe, it is not necessary for all the people to rise up for a citizen movement.

Perhaps you will appreciate that there are several opposition parties each with its own constitution and platform. No opposition political party should egg people on or organize a popular revolt. If they would do that, they did not need to be opposition political parties. They would have been Militia movements.

You got your priorities all screwed up and you malign your fellow citizens for your own cowardice.

Haruna. I don't wanna hear your big mouth about opposition this and opposition that. Isn't the opposition comprised of your fellow citizens, brothers, sisters, uncles, Moms, and Dads????? Why don't you get serious for once in your friggin life Joe Joe??? I feel sorry for the Dembas and Father Moses of this world who are swayed in the wind by your incongruous diatribe.

Demkba, the opposition in the Gambia having seen what is happening in Egypt, siad they will bring peaceful change in the Gambia, as if that of Egypt is violent on the part of the citizens. They also laid it openly that over their dead body would they lead the people to risk the lives of the people or be responsible for their blood. Remember, when ever there is a call to go to the streets, the soldiers either accuse one of setting up their leaders to be killed or they ask you to go to Gambia and lead the people. Thus, even if the people were to rise up, I can see some of the leaders to stay at home just like we see in Egypt. The opposition did a good job to ailienate the people and the people have reached the point of why borther. That is why the people must organize to find their own alternative and we will. They have a perfect recipe to band together to send Yaya packing but they choose to cut off their nose for a pimple. I just hope they will be gracious enough come November to accept that they failed the people and to stand aside and allow fresh blood to lead, since they are not capable. It is really sad to see such good people be around all this long and when they are about to reach the summit, they decided to butcher each other. They will be remembered for this and will have to live with it. Some of them also seem to think that they have eternity to deal with Yaya. As the years pass by with mediocrity, the people ignore you in search of alternatives. Someone has been fooling them that they are our hope. If you ask them, they will sweep the polls. Ain't that something? If they are not close to dead, they are in serious coma. I know the leutenants will disagree but Weranteh Gis Borkucha - November 2011 is around the corner.

Events unfolding in Egypt has underscored the need for a strong, able and willing opposition to stand with the people when citizens stand to take over their country. For almost 10 days now citizens of Egypt has brought the government to a halt and yet there is no emerging leaders in the opposition to lead the people.

The opposition in Egypt has been rendered so harmless that they don't appear to have the backbone to join the people.

This is why it is all the more crucial to have an opposition, able and ready to lead!!!

Now the million dollar question??????

If this were to happen in Gambia today, would our opposition parties be willing to risk what ordinary citizens are risking to lead them and put pressure on the government to leave?

Are they organize and ready to take over power if the government were to go down today?

Do they have the structures and the confidence of the people to lead them in times of crisis?

Does this validate critics points that the Gambian opposition is dead or at least near death???

What say you????

Demba
