No French Translation Cote d’ Ivoire UPDATE: Two detained journalists to appear before public prosecutor again Two detained journalists, Sanogo Aboubakar and Kangbé Yayoro, both of pro-Ouattara Television Notre Patrie (TVN) station in Bouake, being held for alleged rebel activities, will appear for the second time before the country’s public prosecutor on February 16, 2011. The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA)’s correspondent reported that, Sanogo and Kangbé made their first appearance on February 14 to answer a charge of “compromising the security of the state” The correspondent said the charge stems from the fact that the two were working for TVN that was set up by the New Forces during the country’s rebellion and which the authorities claimed were operating illegally. Sanogo and Kangbé were arrested and detained on January 28 and reportedly tortured by security forces loyal to Laurent Gbagbo, to an extent that they could not be recognized immediately. It was reported that one of them had a swollen eye as a result of being hit in the face with the butt of a gun and subsequently being burnt with cigarettes.
