Black Despots Tremble

By Baba Galleh Jallow

Brown despots crumble

Black despots tremble

Dish out the millions

To draw out chameleons

That take on every color

For every endowed caller

That flick their hairy tongues

To sing blasphemous songs

Of praise to the wily devil

And think no evil

Brown despots crumble

Black despots tremble

Invoke the highly sacred

To hide their grim secret

They get the running stomach

Fearing the people’s march

They dish out the millions

To the ever hungry chameleons

Who wag their hairy tongues

And sing blasphemous songs

Of praise to the wily devil

And see no evil

Brown despots crumble

Black despots tremble

Intone the mumbo jumbo

That tyranny must go

But all their mumbo jumbo

All their filthy millions

All the wagging tails of the beard minions

All the burning songs of blasphemy

Shall not save them from infamy

For as the brown despots crumble

So shall the black despots tumble

Someday.
