Yerro,
sometimes we have to live by what we have... What is my alternative.... - the broken opposition.... ? Why do you think all the great advocates of a coalition are hiding - Remember my debates with Koroma. Where are the opposition pillars -  Kejaw Touray, Goerge Sarr, Yus, Koroma etc. After reealising that there will be no coalition, they slowly faded away. Others changed their "tic tacs" to forwarding human rights cases.... No one here talks about a coalition.

When you bring it up, Wandifa, or Daffeh or Suntu or Haruna  will jump you with unending description of how big UDP is....

So, I have no hoice but to continue advocating for Babili Mansa.... And I am not alone.. why do you think all this people write and thank him. Because they do not have an alternative. you know that Badibu, Kiang, Jarra are always in opposition - Sheriff Dibba. Now they are all APRC now, because there is no opposition

You didn't miss this great guest editorial, did you?

I must tell you though I love your interactive nature and way of engaging Gambians, but do you really believe in some of these forwards? Or are you just being the sarcastic fellow trying to humor us here every day?

Thanks Mawdo Baba. The piece is another reminder of what we are daily seeing at the Daily Observer.

Griot journalism is no new thing to Africa. We have seen papers get so excited that they forgot to mention the name of the great guys whose imagined vitues they extol. Be that as it may, it is no idle woof to puff that indeed, our great Failey Of Haver has taken this to a whole new level. As our dear leader calibrates his Xth baffday, we join the world in extending a hearty confrabulations to our dear sister pauper, whose achivements in the area of griot journalism are not only unique, but epic. The rise of the Failey Of Haver to the heights of media griotism is a pride to all Gambians and indeed Africans and worldians at large. The choice of words with which our legendary paper praises the enormous strides and monumental achievements of the great leader are unmatched in the history of juntalism, a fact that we all celeberate with bated breath.

It is no idle boast to claim that in the mighty annals of Gambian and African journalism, an indeed world journlaism, no pauper has ever displayed a higher level of griot patriotism and juntalism. Those who question the great demrits of our Failey Of Haver certainly needs to have their heads examined. For if there was ever a pauper that extols the greatest glories of Doffsulutism and mediocrity, our Failey Of Haver is the one.

For decades now, we have watched as our greatest griot publication has added much needed glitter to the great artifact of Gambian and African journalism. Its choice of words, its punchy lines, its absolutely gorgeous lines and phrases shoot out from the depths of the pages and plunges into the hearst of all patriotic Gambians. That our pious Failey Of Haver is rendering our dear country ambiguous service of vast historical significance and proportions cannot but be doubted. Imagine its unselfish ululations in praise of Baboon Mansa! Imagine its ear-splitting ululations, its shrieking orations, its clapping patter and clatter on the great virtues of the Baraham Limpogne of Africa! Imagine the endless strings and streams of flowery luggage it habitually deploys to highlight the unmatched and unmatchable non-qualities of the Great Doota of Fibs and Fropessor of No Knowledge, the Most Pious Sheek of the Bleating Goats, the Zmiral of the Great Never of the Mighty State of Snobraskal!

Indeed, it is well nigh impossible to put into words - even a million words - the great heights to which our patriotic Failey Of Haver has promoted the ideals of universal junta griotism. We are in no doubt whatsoever that when one day our pious Emptyllency The Oxident Sheek Purupusu Dofula UHaajit Waawaw heh heh heh Yaadeh is swept away by the inexorable winds of history, our patriotic Failey Of Haver will gallantly mount the podium and assume the great mantle of protector of the borderland and turn its raise-singing talents to assist the incoming Dokita.

Meanwhile, please allow us to say hoppy baffday to His Pious Emtyllency the Poxident Waawaw heh heh heh Yaadeh of escaped demons fame and Aids cure!!

Happy birthday Mr President

Tuesday, May 24, 2011
Editorial

Wednesday 25th May, 2011, marks the 46th birthday of our dear President, Sheikh Professor Alhhaji. Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh. The occasion is another joyous celebration; another opportunity to celebrate the birth of a revolutionary agent of change; another opportunity to reflect on a personality of epic influence on generations of Gambians, Africans and the people of the world at large.

The 46th birthday of the Gambian leader so to speak is a fulfillment of a promise nature held for this generation of ours from creation. His ascension was as certain as the impact he was destined to make on this world. So, President Jammeh’s reign should not be seen as a mere chance, rather, it should be seen as a historical destiny. And that, for those of you who don’t know the man himself, or know him only from a distance, is how the man views his historical mission to leave a legacy of heroic leadership, vision and development for this nation and for Africa as a whole.

16 years on, since July 22nd, we live in the heart of this reality; even if not for anything, but the enforced level of hope that keeps life going in The Gambia, is a drive towards self-actualization for its people. There is absolutely no point in endeavouring to list the line of achievements we have been enjoying so far. They are apparent, except if you do not want to see them.  We therefore wish to seize this opportunity to assure President Jammeh that we recognise the fact that we are blessed with a leader in your person whose utmost concern is the improvement of the lives of the citizenry; a leader who jealously defends the country's right to development and constantly endeavours to transform his good words into action.

Your sense of patriotism and strength, with which you have served this country for decades now, unconditionally, remains a source of pride for Gambians both at home and abroad, and it will remain so for generations to come. The management and staff of the Observer Company wish to join all peace-loving Gambians and non-Gambians in wishing you a happy 46th birthday anniversary and many, many more returns. We pray that the Almighty Allah continues to guide and protect you and grant you success in your endeavour for national development. We also wish to use this occasion to call on Gambians to remain united in support of your vision, along the lines of the aspirations of our forefathers,  and  reflect not only on the achievement of the individual, but that of the whole nation.
