Prince, Cherno, et al:

I join Prince in defending Jabiyong Ndey. Both I and Prince are greatly conflicted, because we are both in love with Ndey --I mean to the core! Suntou should have known better on this one, or at least spare us with this seeming style of extinguishing the fires lighting up the walk-way paths for all of us. Out of all people, why would it be Ndey? Ndey went to exile because of her stance against injustices. She could have chosen to stay home and dine with the dictator, but no, she chose to be with the oppressed. Knowing the little that I know, the Ndey class of people are great targets for Yaya Jammeh. Jammeh would have wished to have Ndey to her side, but history is a living witness to the pressure and defiance Ndey mounted when her colleagues (my favorite line -the GPU 6) were arrested.

I want to remind Suntou of this quote on Maafanta about a month ago, "Thou shall not mess with a girl!" I happen to disagree with Uncle Suntou entirely on his take on Ndey. Also, our Laye's characterization of Suntou is a serious misnomer. I believe Suntou is just that opinionated fellow who likes to participate in a wide variety of topics, some of them sensitive, others just sweet. There are times when the ball dropped like any human being but my overall observation to a greater extent, he just wants to participate. A simple re-directing of his efforts will just do it, and that is why I like LJD’s redirecting way in these debates. If Suntou drinks 'wonjoh', he is as calm as a dove. Nonetheless, I am still proud of my nephew Suntou. I am wearing the gloves to support him as well.

Humor aside, I think Ndey is a great figure. The woman is a true jabiyong. I greatly admire her defiance. If I were to advice her before the elections, I would have said one term is enough. Regards to her participation on CCG, I personally do not see any problem or conflict with it. We are fighting a dictatorship and whatever mechanism is at our disposal, so shall we use, including any means available and necessary. Ndey recognized her entitlement as a member of the Diaspora constituent and she is exercising that to the fullest like any of us. Dr. Janneh can be charged with treason all that Jammeh wants, that doesn't make him or Ndey a criminal. Remember, today on July 4th as we celebrate America's independence, we are again reminded by the virtues of fighting for what is right and a just cause. The founding fathers of America were all charged with treason under the British constitution. They won because they were loaded with a true passion for their country. They won because they were united. They won because they were selfless. They won because they put country first and self/family last.

On that note again, I am humbly appealing to all parties involved in this debate to move onto other things that will benefit all.

Happy 4th!

Yero
