Dear Friend,
One of the great things about our country is that no matter how powerful andinfluential you are, you are not above the law.
No one knows that better today than Rupert Murdoch after the FBI launched aninvestigation into claims that reporters at News Corp. tried to hack into thephones of 9-11 victims' families.
If true, it's shameful, and the FBI has taken a good first step. Butit's not enough. We need a thorough probe from Congress and theJustice Department to understand just how far the lies, illegal practices, anddamages go.

DON'T LET RUPERT MURDOCH ESCAPE THE TRUTH!
SIGN OUR PETITION DEMANDINGA FULL, PUBLIC INVESTIGATION.
We saw the British spend 6 years waiting to hold Murdoch accountable forthese offenses. In those 6 years, there were 4,000 victims, including a terrorvictim, politicians, celebrities, and a 13-year old teenager who was tragicallymurdered. Why did it take so long? Because Murdoch is so powerful that peoplewere afraid to stand up to him.
Not here. In the last 48 hours, over 100,000 people have signed a petitionfor thorough investigations and members of Congress from both sides of theaisle have stepped forward in agreement. We can't stop now.
If you'll stand with Media Matters, America's premier mediamonitoring organization, we won't let Rupert Murdoch escape the truth.
Let's get at the truth. Join indemanding a full investigation into whether News Corp.'s corrupt behaviorextended to its U.S. holdings.
When the most powerful news organization in the world is rocked by a scandalthis serious, all of us have a deep personal stake in exposing the truth andmaking sure those responsible pay the consequences for any wrongdoing.
You have my promise that Media Matters will stay on the case untilwe get to the truth.
Sincerely,
Matt Butler
President and CEO
Media Matters for America
