Over 200 volunteers from Bati Ndarr in Upper Saloum District, Central River Region (CRR) North recently transplanted rice on President Jammeh’s farm in the village.
Addressing the volunteers shortly after the exercise, Alhaji Ganyie Touray, the governor of the CRR commended the people for their patriotism and love for the Gambian leader.
He acknowleged the important role Gambian women play in the attainment of food self-sufficiency in the region and urged them to maintain the unity and coopération, and also strengthen their unflinching support for the president and the APRC.
Hon. Sainey Mbye, National Assembly Member for Upper Saloum urged the youths of his constituency to take farming seriously, stressing that agriculture is the backbone of the economy. He also called on them to foster unity and cooperation.
The regional farm coordinator, Abdoulie Boye thanked the women groups for their efforts in agricultural production. He also commended them for coming out in large numbers to work on the farm, which he opined was due to the love they have for the Gambian leader.
Other speakers included Jall Ceesay, the president of the women group and Fatou Jobe, a senior member of the group. They all assured of their unflinching support for President Jammeh and the APRC.
