Massive road rehabilitation at Galleh Manda

Wednesday, September 28, 2011
More than 200 people from Galleh Manda village in Upper Fulladu West District of the Central River Region (CRR) recently embarked on réhabilitation work on the road linking Galleh Mandah and Yerro Berri Kunda (YBK) through the highway leading to Bansang.

The road was badly damaged by heavy rains last year, making it difficult for vehicles and horse carts to travel through it. Speaking after the exercise, Alhaji Nenneh Mbye, the ward councilor of Galleh Manda said nine other satelitte villages are also using the road and rehabilitating it will ease the difficulties commuters face. He appealed to the government for assistance as these villages are far from the highway. He used the opportunity to thank Alhaji Ganyie Touray, the governor of the  region for his contribution towards the success of the rehabilitation work.

Dam Jagne, the alkalo of Galleh Manda commended the people of the area for their active participation in the rehabilitation work. He urged the young people to redouble their efforts and participate in national development. He further urged them to strengthen their unity and cooperation in the interest of development, stressing that there cannot be development without unity and cooperation.

Alhagie Sarr, the youth leader and Isatou Ndow, the women leader, both assured of their readiness to participate in national development. They commended the district chief, Alhaji Biran Baldeh for his personal contribution to the exercise, acknowledging that the donation greatly complemented their efforts in rehabilitating the road.
