Man Sentenced to Death By Hanging

I am truly saddened by the death of this woman in a mysterious way. It really hurts that a healthy woman who left for the rice field to cater for her family to meet her death in the manner this one is narated. I pray that God reward her with Jannah.

Of late, I have seen a lot of verdicts of death by hanging. The killer in this case is alleged to be a lunatic. I was just wondering if anyone else followed this case closely. If so, was this man evaluated for his mental strength? Is death by hanging truly a way of justice dispensation? Certainly, it sets an example to anyone else intending to do a murder crime. Should death by hanging be abolished because it is not a true way to dispense justice? Is there a clause in the Gambian constitution that protects the mentally deranged?  Quite frankly, I do not see death by execution or hanging as a true way of justice from a humanitarian stand point. I am thinking that the one that commited the crime should be punished by some other way, including hard labor and the proceeds should go to the family of the victim. By hanging someone, that person feels only a short pain, and that still won't help the family of the victim in any way.

LJD et al, I would appreciate your enlightenment on this topic as time permits.

Thanks,

Yero.
