Laye, for you, me, DA Jawo and countless others, this is more to do with two personalities  - Ousainou and Halifa, even though they dance aroud that fact. None can convince me that you can trade Ousainou for Hamat on the basis of sincerety and principles. Halifa and PDOIS have a lot of explaining. Is it their right to partner with anyone to their hearts content? Without a doubt and none is contesting that. What I am puzzled about is the apparent contradiction visa vie their "principles and process". To me, it is as if PDOIS is happy because they got their wish. They asked for a convention and they got one. Bouya to you nae sayers! They said all they needed is a few days to hold a convention and they produced. However, where is the substance that PDOIS is know for? They were better off sitting it out totally than coming out with this Hoodini and expect everyone to do the Sicko with them. Both camps in the opposition clearly are way off the mark
when it comes to reading the tea leaves, that is the voter. Do they really expect to see victory on their side with this late night ad? I know they will suffocate us with analysis and I hope they would convince us to a sound logic. I got to tell you, one may run the risk of loosing credibility after everything is said and done.

From the tone of the editorial, one can say there is a hint of pride and achievement or I may go as far as saying some sarcasm. If PDOIS is showing pride in coming together with all the other "lesser" contenders and selecting Hamat Bah as the leader of this outfit - as you alluded to - then I know I underestimated the ideological-cum-personality rift between PDOIS and UDP or more specifically between Halifa and Ousainou. This is serious stuff Joe. They seem to believe that the voters will settle down for a half-ass (excuse me) front they're calling "united."
