Haruna,
Among all the good news from the elections on Tuesday, the very best news was from Ohio.
Ohio
voters rejected Republican Governor John Kasich’s extreme anti-middle
class labor law by a stunning 20 percent margin. That was the law
stripping public workers of their right to organize -- just like the law
that led to the recall campaign against Governor Scott Walker here in
Wisconsin.
Scott
Walker knows a similar fate awaits him for his attack on public
employees. And just like the Republican agenda in Ohio, Walker will be
defeated.
We should all be proud of what happened in Ohio, but there is no time to take a break.
Due
to a loophole in Wisconsin law, Scott Walker can raise unlimited
amounts of money for his recall. And with his friends like the Koch
brothers ready to spend big, Walker and his allies will play every trick
in the book to try and preserve their power.
Just
last week, one of Scott Walker’s own contributors filed for the recall
early, removing contribution limits for Governor Walker. And
coincidentally, the move is just in time for Walker's big fundraising
trip across the country.
As
always, this is what we are up against: unlimited money from corporate
interests who want to slash workers’ rights and those of our middle
class. But we won in Ohio, and now in Wisconsin we can make an
unambiguous statement of support for the fundamental rights of workers
everywhere. But only if we unite.
Thank you for uniting as a progressive,
