A handful of various administrative heads of schools in Basse, Upper River Region, have predicted a landslide victory for His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh in the forthcoming November 24th Presidential Election.
The school heads were speaking to this reporter during a series of school parties held in Basse recently , which came as a result of the money donated to the schools in the area by President Jammeh during his 2011 ‘Dialogue with the People Tour.’
The local school authorities described President Jammeh as an “exemplary” leader, who they said stands out among many leaders in the sub-region, while applauding him for his student-friendly nature.
Speaking to this reporter, Marabatou Badgie, principal of St. Georges Upper Basic School thanked the Gambian leader for the D30, 000 given to his students to organise a party, a gesture he described as another sign of encouragement to the students. “We are wishing him happy celebration in advance in the upcoming election,” he added.
For their part, Kebba Sissoho, Michael Manneh and Joe E.L Mendy, head and assistant head masters of St. Georges Lower Basic School respectively, were equally very grateful to the Jammeh Administration for the love and concern he continues to show to the students.
“This is another indication that President Jammeh is a friend of the students and is willing to share what he has with the students because he always makes students happy whenever he comes on tour”, the school head stated, while disclosing that his school also benefited from a sum of D30, 000 part of which they used to buy a bull.
Samper Mendy, headmaster of St. Joseph Lower Basic School said he was very grateful to the president for the move, predicting that the Gambian leader will sweep the polls overwhelmingly come November 24th Presidential Election.
Yadi Nget, school chairman responsible for monitoring learning and teacher at the school also thanked the president for the money given to the students, and seized the opportunity to pray for his wellbeing in steering the affairs of the country.
Abdoulie Joof, vice principal of St. Mulumbas Upper Basic School was also thankful to the Gambian leader, while predicting that he will replicate his past political successes at the upcoming November 24th Presidential Election.
Abdul Kadir Ceesay, head boy of St. Mulumbas, Amie Jabang, head girl, Ajuwah Dode, assistant head girl, and Abdul Aziz Jallow, senior councilor, all expressed gratitude to the president for gesture.
Saibeh Darboe, headmaster of Koba Kunda Lower Basic School whose school received D40, 000 also expressed gratitude to the Gambian leader.
