Monday, November 14, 2011
The chief executive officer of Gorr Gorr Auto Workshop Friday donated a sum of D50, 000 to the 2011 APRC campaign.

Paul Odimmegwa, accompanied by his wife, Madam Paul, made the presentation through the vice president and minister of Women’s Affairs Aja Dr Isatou Njie, Friday at State House. The move is a show of solidarity and support for the Gambian leader ahead of the November 24th polls. Presenting the money, Odimmegwa explained that he is a Nigerian by birth, but is now a Gambian citizen. Having lived in this country for the past 22 years, Odimmegwa said he is a living witness to the numerous developments that took place since 1994, and called on all to vote en-mass for President Jammeh in the forthcoming polls.

Lamin Kaba Bajo, the minister of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters, who also doubles as the campaign manager of the Alliance for Patriotic Re-Orientation and Construction (APRC) hailed Odimmegwa for the gesture. Receiving the money, vice president Njie-Saidy thanked the donor for the wonderful gesture. She described President Jammeh as an international figure who has high regards for businessmen in the country. She used the opportunity to encourage the couple to do more in the business sector as The Gambia has a private sector-led development policy, which is not common in most countries. She assured them of the Gambian government’s continued support to provide the policy-enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the country.

West Coast Region
In another development, a delegation comprising of the governor of the West Coast Region (WCR) districts chiefs, alkalos, regional mobilisers, and APRC stalwarts were also at the Office of the Vice President on Friday to present a sum of D75, 265. The money is meant to augment logistics with regards to the President Jammeh’s 2011 campaign fund.

Presenting the money, Lamin Sanneh, the governor of WCR said the move is inline with showing solidarity and unending support to President Jammeh ahead of the November 24th Polls. Alhaji Demba Sanyang, the Paramount Chief of The Gambia echoed similar sentiments. He commended Governor Sanneh for his proactive stance towards the APRC.

Other speakers such as Hon. Abba Sanyang, the National Assembly member for Bondali; and Lady Councilor Siffai Hydara and Isatou Jarju, the regional Women mobiliser of the WCR; all promised President Jammeh of their unending loyalty and solidarity at all times. They used the opportunity to renew their call for people to vote massively for the APRC.

For his part, Lamin Kabba Bajo, the minister of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters, thanked the people of WCR for their move, saying their gesture demonstrates their resolve to take ownership of the APRC. Minister Bajo described WCR as an important area for the APRC and thanked them for their foresight. He equally assured them that the APRC belongs to all of them and implored on the electorate to vote massively for the ruling party in the forthcoming polls.

Receiving the money, VP Njie-Saidy thanked the entire community of WCR for the gesture. Like previous speakers, she acknowledged that WCR is an integral area in Gambian politics and hailed their unflinching loyalty to President Jammeh over the years. She observed that the region voted massively in previous elections and challenged them to regard their vote as their right to the future.

She finally called on the electorate to vote massively in order to register yet another landslide victory for the APRC come the November 24th polls.
