New Banjul liaison officer wants 90% vote for President Jammeh

Monday, November 14, 2011
The new APRC liaison officer for Banjul has urged the people of the capital city to massively vote for President Jammeh and the APRC in the November 24th Presidential Election to ensure a 90 per cent victory.

Pierre Tamba, who is also the minister of Local Government and Lands, was addressing hundreds of APRC supporters at a mass political rally in Banjul on Saturday. According to him, the only way to achieve the 90 per cent target is for the people to come out in their large numbers and vote for the APRC. He told the people that President Jammeh has done a lot of good work for Gambians and now it is their turn to give another five-year mandate to him.

Mass Axi Gye, the Gambian ambassador to the Republic of Guinea Bissau described Banjul as a ‘no go area’ for the opposition, saying the capital has registered 24, 000 voters. While noting that the number of voters has increased, he however, urged the people to increase the percentage margin because their votes count a lot. Ambassador Gye called on everyone, particularly the youths to work hard in order for them to achieve the desired percentage target, saying this can only be realised through their votes.

Amina Savage, the councillor for Tobako Road Ward, Banjul North Constituency, announced that the slogan for Banjul in this year’s campaign is ‘Dello Njukal’ to President Jammeh. She said Banjul will show the whole country that they love the Gambian leader and this will be manifested in the number of votes they will certainly cast for the APRC come the 24th November 2011 presidential polls.

Dawda Drammeh, the youth mobiliser for Banjul said the APRC has done a lot for the youths of Banjul. He reminded them of the developments the capital city registered over the years, citing the many roads that have been constructed and the streetlights that were upgraded. Other speakers included Aja Awa Jah, Aji Gas Kebbeh, Kumba Jeng, and Alhaji Mbye Chew. They all reiterated the call for massive vote for the APRC.
