Personnel of the Gambia Armed Forces Second Infantry Battalion in
Farafenni recently carried out a massive cleaning exercise at the AFPRC
General Hospital in the town.

Speaking at the exercise, the chief executive officer of the hospital,
Alhagie Saine, hailed the soldiers for the move, describing the cleaning of
the only major hospital in the region as very essential.

Saine expressed gratitude to the soldiers for their immense contribution to
the development of the hospital, noting that Second Infantry military
personnel have from time to time rendered their selfless service to the
health facility.

He noted that not only do the personnel clean the hospital, they also
donate blood to the health facility to augment its blood bank, as well as
fetching firewood.

Sainey Dibba, public relations officer of the hospital expressed similar
sentiments. The commanding officer of the Second Infantry Battalion, Lt
Colonel Salifu Bojang, described their contribution towards the development
of the hospital as as an obligation, while noting that their latest move is
meant to enhance the sanitary condition of the hospital.

He noted that they see the hospital as something that belongs to them in
view of the fact that it is one of the first health facilities built after
the July 1994 Revolution.
