This story is eye catching... the journalist reported on an alleged story... the chief did not deny that he gave out the ticket - just that it wasn't his girl friend.. here is what the chief said...
“I was phoned by Governor Ganyi Touray (of Central River Region) to identify one woman in my district to go to Mecca,” he explained. “And at the time of the phone call, I was with (the lady in question), so I gave the Hajj ticket to her.”
Interesting isn''t it? So just like that the chief gave the ticket to the woman without considering other people... what was the relationship with woman? Who is the woman? I think Chief Baldeh has an explanation to do... and I smell the usual survival of the fittest by influencing false statements and retractions... Gambia is so interesting really....
