Prominent Gambian scholar and Chair of the Political Science department at Miami University Ohio, Professor Abdoulaye Saine has published a new book on The Gambia. The book, Culture and Customs of Gambia will be released by ABC-Clio press on April 30, 2012.  This new work, the latest on a growing list of major works by Professor Saine makes exciting and very rewarding reading on the rich cultures and traditions of various ethnic groups and communities in The Gambia. It also includes great sections on the evolution and progress of the press in the country. 
 
Among the topics covered in Dr. Saine’s new work are religion and worldview, art and architecture, literature and media, cuisine and traditional dress, gender roles, marriage and family, social customs and lifestyles, music and dance, and the changing economic, cultural, social and political landscape in The Gambia.
