In 1986, five-year-old Saroo was mistakenly separated from his family at
a train station in India. He ended up around 1200 kilometers (746 miles) away
in Calcutta, where he was eventually adopted by an Australian family. A quarter
century later, Saroo used the images on Google Earth to search for a small town
in his home country that fit his vivid memories. He hit upon a waterfall where
he used to play in Khandwa, and shortly afterward, his mother was reunited with
her long lost son.
