I made a terrible mistake when I based my support of Francois Hollande partly on Sarkozy having served 2 terms. That was an error. Sarkozy only served one term. I suppose his presence was so ubiquitous and his presidency so eventful that somehow I thought he'd been there for ever. Having said all this, if I had known this fact prior, I don't think it would have changed my support for Hollande. It may have hightened my consideration for Sarkozy but it wouldn't have been enough to overwhelm my support for Hollande's remarkable humility and sobriety. And even though I am pleased Sarkozy played a prominent role in Gadhafi's ouster, I knew Sarkozy engaged there for all the wrong reasons. Not for the fact that Gadhafi was a butcher of his own people, a dictator, and a lunatic. Sarkozy on the other hand views everything through a commercial prism. There is no sacrosanct principle with Sarkozy. There's no there there. I think he's funny though in a coarse sort of way. Anyway follow the French election here:
