Home-schooled Lori Anne Madison became the youngest person to compete in
the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The six-year-old made it to the third
round  before misspelling ‘ingluvies.” (For the uninitiated, that’s the
name for a bird’s craw, or wide portion of the esophagus). The director of
the annual contest pronounced the tiny contestant “charming.”
