The average American consumed 170 liters (about 45 gallons) of carbonated
beverages in 2011, the most in the world. Other nations that glug more than
100 liters of soda per person each year are Mexico at 146, Chile at 127,
Argentina at 124, Uruguay at 120, Belgium at 108, Norway at 104, Ireland at
103, and Canada at 101.
