"True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice." Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
One Alhaji Mustapha Dumbuya of Thomas Street in Banjul, has sent a letter of apology to the president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, for the incorrect and untruthful statement uttered during the president’s tour of the Albert Market.
The letter reads:
I humbly hereby write to apologise you for the incorrect and untruthful statement I have uttered during your visit to the Albert Market.
Sir, my statement that the store belonged to me was untrue. What I in fact, actually wanted to say was, I was the tenant for the store for over 20 years; and because I thought you would extend your usual kindness by way of compensation or gift to me, I got over excited and lied but I never intended to defraud you in any way. However, it was all my fault and I humbly ask for your forgiveness and pardon.
I am 70 years old and I have never done anything like this before. I have a large family and with my age, I am still the breadwinner for the family. I again apologise you for lying to you and I promise I shall never do such a thing again.
