It is quite interesting that the former vice president under Jawara happen to be on both sides of the debate on the issue of the defunct confederal arrangements in his interview on Freedom Newspaper online radio. It is understandable for him to defend the arrangement since he was probably the prominent architect (that is what we were led to believe) of the framework. The central issue he fails to dilate on since he tried to justify arrangement was the absence of the Democratic Process. The Confederal Arrangement was so profound a Change that alters the functioning and Existence of The Republic that it SHOULD have been subjected to a Referendum and CERTAINLY NOT under a STATE OF EMERGENCY. If that is NOT Politically expedient tell us what is. The debate is not about holding brief for jammeh against the PPP it is Holding the PPP responsible for the Creation of the environment that necessitated the advent of jammeh and the aiding of the AFPRC/APRC by the PPP apparatchiks. One thing we can agree on, All of us must direct OUR efforts to remove the dictatorship for now then provide the mechanisms for Redemption (PPP). While we are at it shall we exercise some modesty; check our tempers and be civil in our exchanges for we on the other side have a lot of umbrage and some; we are putting checks on. This debate we will have and we must have; Meanwhile Our collective Task is removing jammeh.
