*The former Bakau ward councilor for the United Democratic Party (UDP) has
been snubbed by officials of President Yahya Jammeh’s ruling Alliance for
Patriotic, Re-orientation and Construction (APRC). The officials have not
endorsed Mr. Jatta’s bid to run for the forthcoming local government
elections next month. *

The once fire brand UDP youth leader was fooled to switch party allegiance
two years ago with the promise of being selected to contest for either
mayor of the Kanifing Municipal Council or a member of parliament, sources
informed *Kibaaro News. *

Rambo was illegally arrested and detained for more than a year without
being charged or brought before a court of law. Mr. Jatta was moved from
one detention center to another across the country until he was discovered
in Sare Ngai.

Officials of UDP had throughout thrown their weight behind Mr. Jatta until
he was finally released. But in a dramatic twist, Jatta decided to break
ranks with the main opposition party and team up with his tormentor’s party.

It is now apparent that Rambo’s ambition to vie for the APRC has bitten the
dust.

UDP officials swiftly reacted to the developments. “Rambo Jatta has lost
face in Bakau, which is a proof of the damage he has inflicted on himself,”
said a UDP official. “His case is a classic defeatist mentality in a
lengthy, typical dictatorship.”

In another development, *Kibaaro News* was informed that the wind of
trouble is blowing around Mayor Samba Faal of Banjul. “Banjulians are going
to give Mayor Faal a rough ride,” APRC insiders said, disclosing that APRC
militants are secretly campaigning for the independent candidate Abdoulie
Bah. “A victory in Banjul will mark the beginning of better things to come;
Jammeh is no longer popular,” a prominent Banjul resident said.

UDP officials’ election boycott remains in full force.
