Completely agree Haruna... The L and the Post as Lamin said should be enough to assure all of our commitment to transparency... We will share the payment method as it becomes available..

Thanks

I understand Demba. I don't think you'll be bothering anyone here. Besides, the idea is currently being ventilated here further.

Thanks.
Haruna.

Noted Haruna. You are very right. The idea was to be able to communicate with people who are interested in it once people express their interest without bothering everybody else with emails that they don't want to receive... I am open to whatever works to get the process moving forward... If Ellen don't mind it can be a one stop shop and save us time and resources.

Thanks

Demba,

I have indicated here that I am in. I do not desire to register on another e-list hosted by another third party. Ellen is enough for me. I will generally discourage registering with e-tools hosted by third parties. I know there is a lot of facility with e-tools but the side-effect of them is De-personalization of causes among other fiduciary concerns. That is not good for us in my opinion.

I encourage us to do it here and invite the company of others who are not already here with us.

Thanks for your efforts.
Haruna.

Hi All,

I am following up on this idea... I have created an online worksheet for people to sign up on the sheet with their email address to assess how many of our fellow citizens are willing to sign up and contribute to a Defense Fund.. The online spreadsheet is manage on work station where you can be invited to join and have the ability to add or delete yourself from the list if you are not interested...

Again the idea is to see if people are willing to contribute funds to a legal defense fund... The manner to collect and manage such funds is entirely left to all of us...  If you are not interested at this time you can delete your email address or unsubscribe...

Please let us know if this idea would work... I will invite people randomly and it would be up to them to accept or decline... Anyone of us can manage the list...

What you all think?  'Defense fund for Gambia's prisoners of conscience'... Please respond if interested..

Disclaimer: This is NOT another organization or group... This is simply possible contribution to a defense fund by anybody from anywhere...

thanks

Demba

Thanks Haruna and Daffeh, some of you have the legal background and can therefore advice us better on how to proceed... It is one thing to gather the resources but another thing to put them into a productive use... I was think about any one of us putting together a spreadsheet where anyone interested can sign up... Let's assign somebody may be people like Brother Sanusi or anybody who can help coordinate this... I think we all have it to start this legal fund...

More suggestions please!

Thanks

Demba

And you know we can even select a team of legal minds, dependable elders and dynamic youths sort of a 5 man committee to receive and review cases for eligibility of funding... The funds and distribution can be entrusted to an independent body free of political influence...

I'd call it Prisoner of Conscience Defence Fund, or Gambia Prisoner of Conscience Defence Fund, or Prisoner of Conscience Defence Fund, Gambia.  We may have a simple eligibility criteria about whether a fund applicant is indeed a prisoner of conscience. Contrast Baba Leigh with Jesus Badjie.
