Point noted...But and many buts. We want good people on our side. Let us not leave our international partners behind. Thanks

Suntou,

Reports including intelligence reports and that of journalists and their informants are not full proof, there are bound to be errors such ad this. We can only learn from those mistakes and evaluate those sources. After all the criminal act of kidnapping have committed by the regimes.

MB, the end justify the means..however, fighting tyranny is not a part-time job. Believability is sacrosanct. If we take the Syrian scenario, stories and counter stories cost lives. It is a tricky business, unless the newspaper guys start deleting materials after a campaign, it may even prolong our task. Because the researchers in the U.S state department for instance could discredit some of our efforts as lies and fabrication based on high profile cases like that of Baba Leigh.
If they bought the initial story that, Baba Leigh is dead, and then he is not, remembering that, there will be many more people to be kidnapped and abducted in months to come, how do we go from here. The end does not justify the means in every case. Many international observers went with the story that, the man is dead...we are in partnership with the world. fighting a tyrant is not easy.

Thank you brother Ous and the rest.  I fully understand your take on the need for our media houses to thoroughly check their sources, however we have to also understand who we dealing with here.  The state's failure to give accurate information in a timely manner has a lot to do with some of the wrong reporting.
Also I think some of the papers intentionally choose to report the wrong information in Imam Leigh's case as a ploy to put pressure on the administration.
I am a strong believer that at this point anything goes when it comes to dealing with jammeh.  We sometimes have to play his games and put him on the spot.  Slowly he will crack.
In this case he might have released Imam Leigh to prove FNP wrong.
With that said it must be noted that our media houses are doing a great job.  The time to play by the strict journalism rule will come when jammeh and his people start treating us with respect and dignity.

What is important now is that, the Imam is free and reunited with the family. The only important element is the that, Gambia media houses need to realise that, the international community are reading and watching us. False claims have the potentials to diminish our resolve in the human rights defender circles.
