Joe:

Let me hear yours as well. Like you, I didn't make it  to Raleigh despite all efforts to accommodate for at least the first day of the conference. My take is that unity among Gambians is welcome. I have already put enough in the archives of what my views on unity are and the mechanism that should be followed. To me, this is not new Joe. I recalled you in that podium in Chicago where you had to invite politicians on the ground to participate. The question after all said and done is: Who will belt the cat? You know a bigger venue that we witnessed in 2005 was the launching of NADD in Atlanta. That crowd was huge. That said, I still adore some of the brilliant points raised.

What I am careful of now is giving anyone a political weapon to deal with Gambians. I will (inshallahu) dwell on this later.

Just incase you missed this one, here was my take for this conference submitted on April 14th 2013... I look forward to following more reviews about it...

Best,
Yero

[The Raleigh Convention

After some thought on this and conversations with some of its organizers and other group members, I think this is another opportunity for re-grouping Gambians and to underscore the need for unity and strategize our mode of operations against Yaya Jammeh’s terroristic acts in the Gambia.

As I walk myself through these gathering details, I have had to do a lot of soul searching and to take greater caution, knowing some of the past history of some of these organizations. Specifically, the break-up of NADD and its support Diaspora pillar STGDP was the heartbreaker that just drove all nuts. As we continue on this terrain of the struggle, people just find it hard to move on without referencing this much divisive fiasco. Most definitely that wasn’t the wish of its brain-child Dr. Abdoulie Saine.

While agreeable and to the credit of the common critics including myself about the many dispersed sub-organizations some of which duplicated executives with the same common faces (probably even friends), I only see it as a problem if such organizations have barriers with others that cannot be ironed out. For example, what my choice would have been as outlined by UGAMA guidelines (2007) was to invite people without going through any conflicted organization. This will help arrest the fear of friendship shows being operated. To the credit of these local groups, they certainly need these organizations to fight in their localities and to use that group to lobby and underscore more of the wrongs committed by Jammeh’s regime.

As the time draws nearer, we can’t sit on the fence undecided on this. That is to say, even if I have my own disagreements, I can probably argue my case at such a rally. What I am willing to endorse and participate in is the unity of Gambians (the oppressed) and victims of Yaya’s regime and a continuity of such a fight to correct the system of terror already planted by this regime.

Due to some important events I have around May 17/18th, I might not make it to the Raleigh Convention, but I wanted to openly endorse this forum to others interested in re-grouping.

On a similar vein, I wanted to salute Pa Samba (Coach), our vibrant elder Ous Mbenga and those that participated in the rally at Yaya’s Potomac residence. It was certainly the right thing to do. My only encouragement is to say keep it up and don’t let the low turnouts turn off your spirit. Having being involved in some of these efforts for a while, I have had to accept to move on with spirit rather than numbers. At any point, a small and sincere group is by far better than larger groups infected with the regime’s hypocrisy.

The struggle continues…

Best regards,

Yero] (April 14th 2013)

Thanks Haruna. I will take the truce now.

I agree that Kejau flamed the topic and Joe jumped to it without thinking he does the same thing in his debates here.

I still love Joe...and I celebrated him here and elsewhere.

Best always,
Yero.

Yero, Giussepe is simply bored out of his minds. If it gets to 80 degrees here, imagine how hot it gets where he's at. Will you just leave him alone? We got more important things to talk about. Or is this your way of changing the subject of our reviews??? I'm watching yew!

Haruna.

[An Imam apologizing for doing nothing wrong you do not see a contradiction there but come here to preach about apology form Joe. I did not speak my mind in closed doors but out in the open. You are taking other's opinions personal and I wonder why, especially when your name is not Imam Baba Leigh.]

Joe, I agree with you. I have seen you do that. That is your opinion and I personally respect your right to put across your opinion, the same way that you should respect the right I have to put across my opinion. This is a two way street Joe. We must begin to expect from others what we ourselves are preaching. Like I said, if I had anything to address with you Joe, be rest assured I will put it across. I will not need any holy molly garuwareh to do that. Despite being a youth, my life is beyond some of the petty stuff and squables that takes no where.

As for idealogical differences in our approach to matters Gambia, I hope you know that whatever you are doing, without boast we are doing the same thing. It is therefore important that people exercise restraint and respect.

Yero.

Yero, my first instict was to just ignore what Kejau rightfully pointed as Garwalleh and if you attempt to tell us it is not garwalleh, then you cannot blame some of us for seeing your hand at deception. I'm just at a loss. I do not have a problem speaking my mind on Imam Baba Leigh or any soul for that matter, so, what is this sermon about? Some of you are beginning to sound like talibehs and that is not why we are here. When the man was in custody I made my opinions known and when he got out I made my opinions known. You have a different opinion, life goes on. So, what seems to be  the problem? We agreed to disagreed, that is all that happened here and nothingelse. I'm sorry but I do not get the fixation on this one. My opinion stands and I am not trapped by anything. My mind is always free and very clear. I think the angle is unnecessary. An Imam apologizing for doing nothing wrong you do not see a contradiction there but come here to preach about apology form Joe. I did not speak my mind in closed doors but out in the open. Yero, if the Imam was Pope or Rabbi, I will still speak my mind and you know that. Thus, what are trying to accomplish here? You are taking other's opinions personal and I wonder why, especially when your name is not Imam Baba Leigh.

Well folks, those that are quick to make conclusions always find themselves trapped in some unawares. Spoken and written words are subjected to different interpretations. It is your interpretation, my own and the real interpretation. In anyway, I am sticking out my neck again...it calls for full awareness that some of these folks are clearly victims. We must be careful in jumping to conclusions. Otherwise, we risk demonstrating the same tendencies we are accusing Jammeh of. Gambia's current struggle requires great carefulness. We must weed out Jammeh and his hypocrisy. Equally, attitudinal change is also needed. In doing this, a clear distinction between the victim and the oppressor must be noted. Those that are seeking to replace Jammeh must act mature and offer better things than what jammeh has constantly shown gambians. In anyway, it is our Gambia....all of us. What Gambia do we want out kids and grandchildren to inherit? That answer lies in each and everyone's hands.

Going by the way the man is handling himself, he still remains the same. Like the lawyers normally argue, it is better to fight from the outside. I once again congratulate the Imam for being steadfast and sincere. We will keep it honest and sincere with those that keep it honest and sincere with us.

My 2 cents....and for those interested, here is a nice letter to all of you. Like they say in Pularr, "Onn fof, onn jaramah!"
