Rene, it is becoming more and more apparent that the PDOIS leadership is struggling to be in sync with the current temperament of their fellow citizens. I am sensing another missed opportunity. If after almost 20 years dealing with Yaya they think they must stick to their script, then I say more power to them. However, they cannot continue with the posture that theirs' is the best there is. If they believe that Gambians are happy with how they are confronting the thug regime, despite the continued abuse of our citizens and their miserable numbers at the polls, then let them keep, keeping on. However, they, like the rest of opposition parties in the Gambia, PDOIS will be left behind for people to develop other strategies. For them to ridicule DUGA's efforts is yet another indication that they are not keeping up with what the younger generation is about. If they have eternity to to deal with Yaya, the rest of Gambia does not wish to and no one will hold them back. Twenty years have just gone by just like that and another 20 will find us here if we continue with the current strategy of complaining, educating, reporting, etc. It appears that they cannot tolerate current or former associates to cough or do anything that is not blessed by their leadership. We saw what happened to Nyang and now Pa Samba.

Mboge, I was there and walking behind Halifa. This editorial is definitely uncalled for. Judging by the reactions on facebook and the publicity this has generated, it has arouse a deep sense of ownership to a lot of people. The gesture is symbolic and is in the tradition of a civil rights activism that still has currency.
PDOIS's struggle must be link to the struggles of the young people; it must be link to the struggles of the Diaspora Gambians, and indeed it must be link to the struggles of all people who want to contribute to the evolution of a democratic culture and plurality in the Gambia.
The second phase of their struggle must find a way and the method to do this.
