Haruna:

Thank you. That answered the question. Alhaji Mustapha normally says, "tocgha alikalagi!"

Humor aside, nice put as always. :)

Thanks Giusseppe, Suntou, & Yero for sharing. Yero, I'd like to share ideas on your rhetorical question below:

what democracy or law is stopping you doing the same?

None. Democracy requires that when we are threatened with harm, bodily injury, or death, we use proportionate force to neutralize the threat. Where we are unable to use proportionate force to neutralize the threat, it means the force is likely to threaten our fellow, animal cousin, or plant friend also, for it overwhelms the scale and scope of our singular defenses. In that case, we are encouraged to use overwhelming force from solidarity with our fellows to neutralize or eliminate the threat.

Haruna.

Joe & Suntou:

Thank you both for seating this thread well. You've hit the nail right on the head and it couldn't analyzed any better. What is also funny is how this terror administration and its supporters or bystanders (aka political neutrals) want to brand critics as irresponsible, bad citizens, aggressors, and trouble makers...in short, that the administration is a victim of Western conspiracy and its many critics. Joe, nothing is further from the truth. Since when has the aggressor become the victim and the victim become the aggressor? Not yet! What I see in some of these folks is plain ignorance, hypocrisy, selfishness, criminality, blind support and an intent to hold our nation and its people hostage.

Some of our folks like to make us believe that petting the mighty dictator will finally fool the idiot into accepting to be defeated in elections. I think the opposite. That if a man should take a sharp tool and put it on your body, what democracy or law is stopping you doing the same? It is a lesson, so he also knows that wrong is wrong, injustice is injustice, cruelty is cruelty, and that we are all created equal. It is as if death comes to a man more than once. The only thing left in my view is to motivate people to buy weapons to defend themselves against any aggressors, be it the dictator or any other territorial forceful intruder. Defend yourself, defend your people and defend your country --Self defense!!

Like you, I am equally happy to see Imam Baba Leigh continuing on activism. While I congratulate him for the award, I congratulate him more for the courage he mustered to stay with the oppressed. I must state that I am not taken by some of these accolades. To me, his story of being tortured is what got to my spine. It is similar to the stories narated by many others. How can all these people be wrong? The administration in their deceit, they continue to buy time with Gambians.

Thanks both again for your reviews and keeping Gambia's sphere politics active.

Best always,

Yero

Joe

You are missing a lot our other cyber world. Yaya Jammeh is the Supreme custodian of the Imams, the Pope, the Archbishop and now, the expert on roads. You didn't see the youtube video of him explaining road layouts and examining pot holes and the mess...This man is Unique...He is unexplainable...A one man theatre company. But sadly, his antics are not funny or nice at all. He who dares laughts at his jokes...

Thanks

Suntou

Yero, thanks for this forward. I am glad that Imam Leigh has dedicated the rest of his time to continue to fight for those without a pulpit and am sure those left behind in similar predicament in Mile II and other hell-holes will appreciate that very much. If an Imam is not spared torture, who has a chance? Everyone is vulnerable with our current posture. The opposition politicians are equally vulnerable and they know it. Where any of them to be picked up, they would be at the mercy of their torturers and their sponsor. Now, why do they continue to render themselves and their supporters victims to killers? Why? If I were a supporter of any one of them, why would I stick my neck in my support of them when I know that if I am whisked away, they cannot do a thing for me? The reality is, they are failing their supporters in particular and Gambians in general. They know that the antidote to the illegal arrests, detention, and tortures is to mobilize and stand up to the thugs, together. That way, not only are they protected, but their supporters too, and the rest of Gambia by extension. But no, they keep playing a zero sum game among themselves and towards Gambians, except against the monster in front of them. How many Imams have been tortured and killed, directly or indirectly? How many more must we entertain before we put a stop to it? One individual cannot stop a murderer president. All of us need to protect each other at all times. Every month or so we see this family and that to come here to lament about their missing somebody while the rest of Gambia pretend that nothing has happened, only for one of us to be the next in line to worry to death where our father, uncle, brother, or sister is and what could be happening to them. We are in a state where the opposition politicians are claiming that the people control their destiny and can vote Yaya out if they want to. The people in turn are afraid to talk because they have seen what has happened to politicians, Imams, etc.. So, what gives? Our situation cannot be wished away no matter how much we double up on wishing Yaya away. I thank brother Imam Leigh for not forgetting those that are left behind in misery. I do not understand how Yaya has been murdering and torturing Gambians the last 19 years and will not hesitate to continue, yet the response from these politicians is to continue to educate him while their own supporters are being murdered or tortured in jail. I bet you they will have a different look if they were taken in and tortured mercilessly. Then, hopefully they will get it.

Joe

Wow, the naration is very touching. I wonder what the torturers and their supporters have to say on this one?

How can all these people telling us about what they suffered in Jammeh's hands not be right?

I see self-denial, deceit, and criminality in this adminstration. The fact that they keep denying on their deeds and repeating the same things over and over contains all we need to know to draw conclusions. H

Walahi, may God protect us from every evil omen.

Best,

Yero.
