Whatever it is, donkey carts are not an "innovative means of transportation." They have been with us since time immemorial. Why not sell Jammeh's new fleets of Mercedes Benz and other cars and his personal plane, his overseas mansions and other properties and use the money to buy school buses for the children rather than rely on donated donkey carts? Why not take a couple of million dollars from Jammeh's ill-gotten loot and buy mini vans for the children? This is very shameful for a country that brags on attaining the so-called Millennium development goals. Are these goals not set by the West Jammeh likes so much to harangue? It is just unbelievable the kind of garbage coming from this obnoxious regime and its enablers!! Thanks for sharing Yero.

"In the 2013-2014 school year, more communities will receive customised donkey carts to enable more children to reach school. Those numbers will mean an increase on the 1,842 children who already enjoy on a daily basis the services of this innovative means of transportation" (Nana Grey-Johnson, Gambia's Minister of Information).

Wow! We are talking about customized donkey carts. Folks, this is very unfortunate. I have nothing against  donkey, horse or bull carts. I have used all as a youth to help transport things around. But donkey carts as a way of transporting students to school sounds like ridiculous. How many donkey carts? How many donkeys? How many drivers? How many students ? How many trips? How much do you pay the transporters? I guess unless these questions are answered, it looks like this minister is just buying time in his position.

Best regards,
Yero
