The Nyanchos have their leader MamBai Sanneh, and Foday Kabba Dumbuya who with his willing Talibes lay siege on Kiang for a month before finally meeting the Soninke elders.
That eventful exchange of words and the several battles that ensue was re-enacted this year in the ancient village of Generie. Foday Kabba besieged them for 12 months...Foday Kabba's right hand man, like before him Mma Baa Jahou has Kumbo Gaye, Murad, The Marabout leaders rely on the readiness of their war leaders. Foday Kabba has Foday Ceesay, Jalaman, Lamin Camara, Sulayman Dumbuya, Bamba Kinteh, Demba Hajada Sanneh, Saine Kinteh, Kumancho Wally etc, who never fail to obey his commands.
But in Generie, they were surprise as how ready the Nyanchos were to defend their wine drinking and Idolatry. The program is now an annual event. Bu the time Foday Kabba conquere the settlement, the leaders decided to dump all valuables in a well, and then cover it up. Foday Kabba conquered Generie, but he couldn't take any valuable possession.
The youths of Generie two years ago, excavated that well and place all the guns, jewelry, utensils, many artifacts in a local museum. The museum is now a tourist attraction..Th festival is recorded in a DVD, Kairo radio was given the two hours plus program, which show case, women dance and programs, men with jujus all over stabbing themselves, kankuran dance, different songs..If you enjoy culture you will enjoy our radio program today.
