The arrest of the Halifa and Sedia shortly after the coup was before the constitution and referundum politics of draft 1996 constitution. The arrest of Halifa and Sedia was challenging the publication of Foroyaa in the name of PDOIS party organ when the junta put a ban on political parties. The matter went to into magistrate court in Banjul preside by Magistrate Lamin Mboge. It was after there was removal of organ of PDOIS its publication and its becomes foroyaa. In 1987 when it start Foroyaa publication include organ of PDOIS and the decree that ban political activities association and publication of political activities which Halifa and Sedia challenge selling the party in front of Ministry of education and later to Banjul Magistrate Court sufficiently led the removal of organs of PDOIS in FOROYAA's publication.
I know Halifa and sedia in 1985/86 and the first publication of Halifa and Sam-Seneganbia Confedaration facts mythic and realites was the source of my political enlightenment and comes the introduction to Halifa through his brother my high school mate- Malick Sallah. We are human beings and we make mistake and that comes in association and relationship and when it becomes to Halifa Sallah and Sedia Jatta just dont see any Gambians who love our country more than them. I personally is alway not comfortable with many of their position in post 1994. I have not been silence in my meetings with Halifa. I have explain my position to him.
It is classical dishonesty if some element start to claim for the 1996 constitution which he was not draft man and not a member of the review committee. In 1994 first the criminals in uniform came up with 4 years transition and comes a travel ban by UK Government. and other EU Countries. Halifa and Sedia take by their own iniatives emback on consultation explaining the situation to our partners in Europe and Tourism been the main employer both season and off season, we all knows the impact of travel ban our livelihood. The Junta after consultation came with two years transition and a project to politically legistimise their stay in power and using our own elite in bastardisation of PPP. Further online delaying that project was not anybody's interest. My meeting with Halifa and discussing wider national interest and always his concern Junta and what we should learn from Rwandese experience. I have some objection about the constitution and I have blaime Cherno Jallow the senior legal draftman, the members including my half sister Dr Mariama Sarr Ceesay and the rest of the members of consititution review committee for giving us a document open to political machination. Is it their intention should be the focus of political research with a good research question for generating a new body of knowledge in Gambia and constitution politics.

Wanted to give the last word on this but cant resist this one. No Halifa will not get into a spat with you i will rather let him do that with your god-father Ousainou Darboe and you know what the outcome will be. Oh, for you? Unless you want to go to the Tann in Banjul or at the quarry between Manjai and Bakoteh, and you are already forewarned. Sallah is a fit guy.

So funny with this Sonny guy, all of a sudden Halifa is not powerful after you ascribed him the almighty power of singlehandedly winning a yes vote for the constitution. You think that the people reading you are dumb? You are so bitter Mr. and you need to cool down before you explode in your pants.
You have struggled with this lie for so long believing that it will stick but only to your utter disappointment. Because your political stars choose to hide under their beds during the coup period you think the lie that "nobody was allowed to counter his views" will bury the truth.
The platform that Halifa and his team had during the coup was earned by them from the toughest of conditions that no other Gambian had tried or even attempted to attain. That stellar achievement is etched in stone in Gambian Gambian political history. The rest of you and your elk will only continue to wallow in eternal envy and jelousy and that is if you are lucky from that burst of adrenalin up in your heart.

Halifa effectively spearheaded the yes campaign acting in concert with the junta. He was not powerful, just that nobody was allowed to counter his views in the open due to the ban in place at the time.
