1. English language is not mind

2. What standard will we use - mind, yours, Yahya's etc. That game will have no rules. We have to have a point of reference.

3. I also love Jawara as a person. However if we come to judge his deeds I tend to base my arguments on the very definition of such topic.

Again I will post why I said  Jawara was a dictator.

Jawara was a dictator. I will post a 10-point reason for everyone to read later today or tomorrow.

Please research a bit more on the definitions of a dictator, dictatorship and democracy.

Comparing him with Yahya is not the issue.

Those that definition fit in your framing of Sir Dawda as a dictator. Controlling state power showing no respect to constitutionality and rule of law. You want to tell me that under PPP our judiciary is not independent?  Judges are fired if their ruling was not favourable to the Government of the day?  If that happened under the rule of Sir Dawda you are free to give me example. I am botn in the 1960s and have witness 1981 and the treason trial of Sheriff Mustapha Dibba Lamin Danso and step father Bully Sanneh et al. Those PPP under the rule SIr Dawda a one man show? Burama  me and you and many in this forum are post 1965 generation of Gambian citizens we should be honest to distinguish chaff in the winds

Kwame was very harsh on his opponents. In his mind opposing him is not a civic responsibility and right but unpatriotism.

He also like to seek refuge under anti-colonial sentiment.

Sure he's. Pan African leader but that's not exactly democracy.

Most dictators run an autocratic government, with no real checks and rule totalitarian regimes, staying in power by controlling the mass media, using the state police and spy agencies, restricting or removing the rights of the citizens. Dictators often cultivate a cults of personalities, using propaganda declaring them flawless, with school children taught to sing their praises.

So on a scale of 1 to 10, where will you put Yaya (I put him at 10), Jawara, Nkrumah and even Sekou Toure?
