This is not so much a political issue in The Gambia but it is one in US and
probably some other developed world countries. May or may not be an
economics issue in Gambia - I simply don't know!

Citizens to prosper with income I think would be a universal goal for any
nation.

Income equality/inequality on the other hand is not so simple. For instance
it may be utopian in a capitalist free world like US to suggest I/equality.
How do you do it with policy/law? Also most advocate are elites who where
once poor. Upon riches they never share what they earn with a lesser
fortune neighbor and most choose to change location of living for more
affluent areas. I have never shared my little with a
friend/neighbor/relative to equalize the inequality, infact am trying to
stand out.

Yes is a lofty goal but I don't know how in a free capitalist world can we
achieve this. A question begs whether is simply politics and/or economics?

In controlled societies I can see how theoretical can be done. That's
government apportion work among citizens and pay each equal among at the
end of the day. Yet in the cause of citizen economic activities inequality
will resurface. For instance someone with more demanding goods/services
will receive the purchases of the equal earner. Still theoretical that
provider can be government. So theoretical is possible in
communism/socialism but has in practice never happen

Recently Hilary R Clinton called it ''cancer of inequality''. Many before
her campaigned on it why hasn't been done so far - in fact many measures
show des parity increasing especially between higher bracket and the lower?

What's your view more specially it's pros/cons for/in Gambia.

Burama
