Mr Jammeh,

Well said and i wish i have the answers for you. Though not any excuse, but lets remind our selves that it took America the blood of Luther King,Malcom and many more before them and after them  to get to where they are today,it has and will be a struggle for us too,it took them perhaps more than 200 years,it should  not for us in these modern times. As fanon said for more than 50 years ago,we should find our own way to build a new human society,a copy cat will only produce what we have today and if that is what we want.it is better to  let Europe do it for us, as they did it for America.Ther are no person who love freedom and democracy more than the African people, from a historical  perspective, their struggle has always been for that and i believe the answer to your "why.." is found in the prisons of Africa, the blood in the streets and the tears under brutal interrogations. Take for example, what happened during the elections into office of  Geroge Bush jr,the out right manipulation, dishonesty, lies to the highest level of the American judiciary, had it been in Africa,it would have unleash the most brutal instinct in law enforcement officers in any  African country. What does that mean, simply, our desire for freedom, peace ,democracy and justice is equal to non at the moment. That is why,if not you or  me,i know that there are Gambians who will die to see that what comes after Jammeh, must be much ,much ,much better than Jawara and Jammeh, not getting it will never mean that they will give up.It is a struggle with a limitless time.Lets do what we can if we believe in history.

Our people are yet to be guaranteed clean drinking water. 1 in 100 or so 1-5year kids die from malaria - a disease that we could be eradicate with clean environment.
